Many of them were then recruited by a central figure named Ferdinand Brandner to develop the Hispanic Aviation 300 aka HA-300 in Cairo, which Messerschmidt first designed for the Spanish. It was German engineers who had developed the aircraft in Egypt. Ferdinand Brandner wrote the book "Zwischen den Fronten" - a book worth reading!
