The general plan for the palace and the park (1) One of Tallinn's most prominent monuments (2) is the memorial to the crew of the armoured ship Russalka (The Mermaid). Russalka perished in the Gulf of Finland in an autumn storm in 1893. The monument depicts a figure of an angel raised on a high base, which looks to be floating above the sea.
