Oakley controled the llford Aeroplane Works, which undertook the installation of Curtiss engines in 1916. In 1917 the company was contracted to build a batch of 25 Sopwith Triplanes, but only three were completed before the aircraft became obsolescent. Also undertook component manufacture and aircraft repair work during First World War.
