This company was formed by Mr. T.G.Adams and Mr. Paul Wilson to market plans for a very simple single-seat helicopter named the HobbyCopter, of which they have built a prototype. This new successfully for the first time in November, 1958 and more than 100 sets of plans have since been sold to amateur constructors throughout the world. The company also supplies kits of parts for the Hobby-Copter.
ADAMS-WILSON XH-1 HOBBYCOPTER
TYPE: Single-seat home-built helicopter.
ROTOR: Two-blade main rotor of solid spruce construction. Aerofoil section NACA 0012. Chord 0.20m. Cyclic and collective pitch controlled by swash-plate. Formed aluminium two-blade tail rotor.
ROTOR DRIVE: Engine-to-gearbox by chain; gearbox-to-main rotor by direct shaft; gearbox-to-tail rotor by belt. Main rotor r.p.m. in flight 360. Tail rotor r.p.m. in flight 1,800.
FUSELAGE: Aluminium tube structure, bolted together.
LANDING GEAR: Tubular skids, with retractable ground-handling wheels.
POWER PLANT: One 40-46hp Triumph 650cc motorcycle engine. Fuel in single tank above engine with capacity of 4.5 litres for training, 11.4 litres normal. Oil capacity 3.8 litres.
ACCOMMODATION: Single fiberglass bucket seat ahead of rotor drive shaft. Jane's All the World's Aircraft, 1959-60
This company was the manufacturer of the Adams-Wilson XH-1 - a single-seat helicopter with an open-frame fuselage and 34hp Triumph motorcycle engine, designed by T.G.Adams and P.Wilson of Lakewood, California. The prototype, N23P first flew in November 1958, and the type was sold as a kit to amateurs as the Model 101 Hobbycopter.
