| Continuing its highly successful Corsair biplane range, Vought produced in 1930 the new O3U-1 for the US Navy. This led to several new O3U observation and SU scouting types being produced, powered by Pratt & Whitney Wasp or Hornet radial engines in the 410-447kW range. All remained two-seaters, armed with one forward-firing 7.62mm and two rear-mounted machine-guns. Altogether nearly 330 were built, two-thirds as O3Us.

Roberto Reyes, e-mail, 01.04.2024 04:25 Hi estimated!
My name is Roberto Reyes from Chile. I a scale modeler.
I found your website about the history and profiles of the US Navy seaplane Vought O3U.
If is possible, do you have information about color and serial schemes of the Vought O3U-1 aboard USS Arkansas (BB-33) and USS Wyoming (BB-32)?
Regards from Chile.
