Marco Rombi, e-mail, 19.12.2017 14:50 I'm keen on aircraft modelling, so I'm going to build aircraft model ARES 151 about 2200 cm wingspan, but I can't find any information regarding center of gravity. may I ask you where should be set on the wing? hanks in advance for your support. reply | TORBJÖRN KAMPE, e-mail, 01.06.2015 23:29 This ARES together with the A-10 in Iraq and Afghanistan, could wipe out either nada Bedouin village and all the fucking terrorists who smell monkey and look like hell. reply | Dale, e-mail, 05.02.2015 19:08 Whomever wrote (KPI) that trash about composites shattering is lost in the world of ignorant. You need to shoot some composites full of holes watch how well the aircraft flies. Repairs are simple when conducted by people who know how and have a background in structural repair. Suggest you document your beliefs. reply | KPl., e-mail, 14.03.2013 21:06 The general problem is that composites shatter when damaged, similar to a piece of wood that has been compressed until snaps. The loss of structural integrity is immediate and widespread, all the more so on the ARES because it is only a very thin hard coat over a foam core interior. Redo this airframe in conventional framing and aluminum skin (where a patch job is not replacement of large areas of skin) and the weight goes so high that it cannot be made practical as a warfighter. The secondary reality is that of persistence. A Rotax 914 turbo-recip engined MQ-1 Predator has a potential endurance of nearly 40 hours. A turboprop MQ-9 Reaper is closer to 15. A JTD15 engined ARES is going to be an hour endurance machine which effectively takes it out of the running for persistence air support (comparitively, the LAS AT-6 and EMB-314 are both in the 4.5-5 hour regime). reply |
| TheExpertish, e-mail, 21.03.2011 22:19 The ARES was not intended as an anti-helicopter fighter but I am sure could have been made to fit that roll. It was designed as a ground pounder like the A-10. The official designation was Low Cost Battlefield Attack Aircraft for close support missions with Army ground troops. Like the A-10 it was designed around it's gun, hence the single air inlet opposite the gun. This was to meet low airspeed requirements while strafing so the engine wouldn't "choke" on the gun smoke. reply | David, e-mail, 01.09.2009 02:33 This is not a kit. It is a prototype anti-helicopter fighter. It would also be good for light ground attack... reply | stephen russell, e-mail, 15.06.2008 04:03 Saw this in 1993 movie Iron Eagle 3. Nice kit jet. Very viable for Tac Ops & ideal Trainer model. Add mini F22 style egnines, Id be a real Hot jet. Great for Spec Ops & Air Combat for 3rd world nations. Add rockets, guns, missiles & EW. Longer nose fwd. Extend fuel tanks, add drop tanks & mid air refuelling. Very stable airframe, very viable. reply |
