According to the video this is a DH Caribou body modified by NASA into the C8A and then remodified into the above configuration with over-wing engines to make use of 'the Coanda Effect' (my understanding is that this is the effect of a flow 'sticking' to the convex surface it flows over, which presumably reduces stall and may improve lift, I am no expert!). According to the video many parts were re-used from abandoned or cancelled projects, including the engines and landing gear. If its good enough for NASA, its good enough for me.

Am I looking at a Dehavilland Caribou with jet engines?? Or a jet-powered General Aircraft Fleet Shadower?

I would click on the video, but I can't watch Dark Skies. Robo voice at 3X speed. XD
