Wright-Martin K-3

Capt James V. Martin designed tiny 45hp biplane fighter, supplied to US Air Service as K-3 (May 1918) and three to Navy as K-IV (Navy KF-1) 1921.

"Wright-Martin", although correct for a few other aircraft, is incorrect for this little biplane that was also called the "Kitten". Since J.V. Martin did not have a manufacturing facility of his own, building of the K-III and K-IV were contracted out to the Gallaudet Aircraft Corporation, though the J.V. Martin name is the one that applies. One Kitten survives in the collection of the National Air and Space Museum.
