| Barry, 18.03.2016 13:19 A promising sports plane that at the time Luscombe could see no future for. The tail, wings and engine mounting were all from the Luscombe 8. The sole model,pictured above, was destroyed in 1948 apparently for tax reasons.

Collier, e-mail, 07.12.2010 22:43 I soloed in a Luscombe 8A (NC25236) in 1946 on my 16th birthday, received my Private license in that same Luscombe 8A on my 17th birthday, and as a young flight instructor, I taught many to fly in Luscombes.
Luscombes had a repartition as being difficult to land. Not so!
The story I was given by the then "Don Luscombe Historical Foundation" was the Model 10 was destroyed as a requirement when Luscombe filed for bankruptcy. Don't know why but that is the story they told me. What a prize it would be to have a flyable Model 10 today.
More Trivia: I tracked down NC25236 and flew it once again on the 50th anniversary of my solo flight. reply | |
