wolfman, e-mail, 23.07.2009 07:54 Not sure about the super cruise Coaxer talks about. Also not sure about the AF's choice but the winner was decided before the competition began. ....oh by the way, I flew this baby!!!! reply |
Mark Livingston, e-mail, 19.07.2009 10:02 I am not aware of the aircraft's ability to do what ezonis777 is talking about. I served on the flight test crew with General Dynamics on Ship# 1. The jet was a wonder and a marvel... A mechanic's nightmare. We had a ball during the flight test. But the AF chose the better aircraft. The F-15E... Still in service today reply |
john, 16.07.2008 19:50 Why wasn't it ever put into production? reply |
Coaxer1, e-mail, 16.07.2008 17:17 What is remarkable about this aircraft is it was the first to demonstrate "super cruise", that is the first aircraft to go supersonic with afterburner and be able to pull back out of AB and continue cruising supersonically. I worked on this baby. reply |
