Yeah, the Mig-31 is fast, but Mig-31 just an interceptor not an air superiority fighter, so thats why its like a meat on a table.
They are inferior in maneuver, but superior in speed, its very effective when engaged a bomber, but not very effective when engaged a fighter.

Non fiction and carrys eight missiles.

Firefox
Fiction, carries six misiles, invisible to radar and has REAR DEFENSE PODS

To answer the "firefox" question--That was the name of a fictional aircraft in the Clint Eastwood movie. Supposedly it was a "stealth" aircraft that the U.S. was stealing from the Soviets. The name comes from "reconfiguring" the name of the radar system on the MIG-25, which was known as the FoxFire Radar.

The service ceiling of the MIG 31 is 20,700m and a absolute maximum ceiling of 24,400m (according to my sources).

Against cruise missiles or bombers mig-31 could be very effective,but incase of interception of B-52 escorted by F-15,this plane should probably have been protected by su-27. This could have beena problem,becuse it is said that "mig" and "sukhoi"planes cannot communicate eah otherby radio

MiG-31 is the ultimate development of a high performance interceptor. It is based on the MiG-25 design. Retaining its capabilities of high velocity and altitude (Ceiling is over 25000 meters and dash speed 3200Km /hr)has perhaps the most powerfull Air to Air armament known today. Equiped with one of the best AESA radars (Zaslon) can cary 6 AA-9 (Vympel R-33 /37) active radar guided long range missiles plus up to 4 AA-11 (Vympel R-73)

This is the successor to MiG-25 after all and it should be a better one. Distinguished differences are...

Engines: D-30-F6 15500 Kgf each (31000 Kgf full thotled at MSL) prvides it with 1.2 Mach at sea level (~1470 Km /hr)
stil capable for 3+ Mach flight at stratospheric altitudes.

Radar: 1200KW Active Electronic Scanned Array Track While Scan 12 targets trackig 200 out of detections. Range 600Km at stratosphere,elsewhere, as propagation conditions apply... A squadron of Mig-31s can cover a 900 Km wide path. from ground to satellite altitude.

Cruie speed: continouus 2440 Km /hr at military thrust (without aferburner at stratosphere - marginally supersonic cruise at MSL)
Endurance 1Hr 40 min (corresponds to 3000 Km Range - or 1500 Km of combat radius)
