| Designed as a long-range, extended-endurance PVO interceptor to replace the Tu-128 and MiG-25. Development
began in 1967 and the S-155MP avionics complex was ordered for the Ye-155MP interceptor in 1968. First
flown, as Ye-155MP (originally Type 83 MiG-25MP) '831', 16 September 1975; second prototype ('832'), with
radar, first flew 22 April 1976. Two preproduction aircraft (011 and 012) built by Sokol and flown 13 July and 30
June 1977; six development aircraft (201 to 203 and 301 to 303). Full production (of about 450) started 1979;
first of 11 regiments operational 1983, replacing MiG-23 and Su-15.

We at REDSOUN TYRES strive to etch a new sales mode with competitive advantages by offering wide range of quality tyres for Russian Aircraft. REDSOUN aircraft tyres are designed to deliver outstanding performance, keeping in mind the heavy work environments in which the Military jets operate.
We endeavour to put forth a new quality level in Tyre production which determines a higher level of efficiency by optimizing the product portfolio. To achieve this, we use imported Rubber of very high quality, to produce hi-tech macro-molecular material that ensures excellent features like High Abrasion and Ageing Resistance, Extra Loading Strength, dependable Performance.
The Military Jets MiG-21, MiG-27, MiG-29, SU-22, SU-24, SU-25, SU-27, SU-30, IL-76, IL-78 are all-weather, multi-role fighters, meant to gain air superiority; besides, these jets operate in various conditions like take-off from unpaved runways, delivery of heavy loads to undeveloped areas in remote locations. The choice of aircraft tyre is very critical, with due consideration to Reliability and Performance.
REDSOUN tyres are manufactured with advanced production techniques, using the best quality raw materials to afford extended life through many extra landings. The salient features of latest innovation and expertise are incorporated to produce tyres that deliver outstanding performance and extended life on the runway. Design and construction are meticulously done to be used in extreme conditions and for longer use preventing early replacement. REDSOUN Tyres are engineered to be light, yet strong and long lasting by resistance to wear and tear.
The important factors critical to ensure Reliability and enhance Performance are expertly woven into the production profile to optimize the Quality. Hi-tech mix of Rubber compounds are used to effectively achieve the goal of producing Tyres that offer extended life with ultra-high Performance. Casing is designed to withstand external effects and extreme conditions, ensuring balanced lateral stability and uniform distribution of stress during high speed take-offs and landings. Excessive Loads and Extra Stress are well handled by the Casing Plys to provide Strength and Stability. The Tread Grooves are specially crafted to build Stability and Safe hold, along with Durability and Dependability. reply | dalhats laudzafata avicena, e-mail, 13.03.2014 14:34 Yeah, the Mig-31 is fast, but Mig-31 just an interceptor not an air superiority fighter, so thats why its like a meat on a table. They are inferior in maneuver, but superior in speed, its very effective when engaged a bomber, but not very effective when engaged a fighter. reply | Dalhats Laudzafata Avicena, e-mail, 16.09.2013 15:25 Maybe this is the last heavy fighter because the program name wasTPFI(heavy interceptor frontline fighter). reply |
| Viper, e-mail, 20.08.2012 07:14 I'm an F-15 pilot...this bird is fast but..."meat on the table" in an engagement. reply | DebtMan, e-mail, 22.10.2010 07:04 The MiG-31 is a great plane as the MiG.15,MiG-17,MiG-19.MiG-21,MiG-23,MiG-25 and the invincible MiG-29 reply | Ta-183 Huckebein, 16.05.2010 01:25 MiG-31 and Firefox are completly differeent:
MIG-31 Non fiction and carrys eight missiles.
Firefox Fiction, carries six misiles, invisible to radar and has REAR DEFENSE PODS
Like I said, TOTALLY DIFFERENT! XD reply | Bob Lawler, e-mail, 12.04.2010 17:30 To answer the "firefox" question--That was the name of a fictional aircraft in the Clint Eastwood movie. Supposedly it was a "stealth" aircraft that the U.S. was stealing from the Soviets. The name comes from "reconfiguring" the name of the radar system on the MIG-25, which was known as the FoxFire Radar. reply | Matthew, e-mail, 10.03.2010 19:59 The service ceiling of the MIG 31 is 20,700m and a absolute maximum ceiling of 24,400m (according to my sources). reply | simone, e-mail, 24.10.2009 05:03 Against cruise missiles or bombers mig-31 could be very effective, but incase of interception of B-52 escorted by F-15,this plane should probably have been protected by su-27. This could have beena problem, becuse it is said that "mig" and "sukhoi"planes cannot communicate eah otherby radio reply | Dejan Vukobrat, e-mail, 22.06.2009 12:10 I dont know much about aircrafts, but this is a beautu. I'm a little confused, if this is MIG31 what is firefox? reply | Nikos J. Farsaris, e-mail, 08.01.2009 03:37 MiG-31 is the ultimate development of a high performance interceptor. It is based on the MiG-25 design. Retaining its capabilities of high velocity and altitude (Ceiling is over 25000 meters and dash speed 3200Km /hr)has perhaps the most powerfull Air to Air armament known today. Equiped with one of the best AESA radars (Zaslon) can cary 6 AA-9 (Vympel R-33 /37) active radar guided long range missiles plus up to 4 AA-11 (Vympel R-73)
This is the successor to MiG-25 after all and it should be a better one. Distinguished differences are...
Engines: D-30-F6 15500 Kgf each (31000 Kgf full thotled at MSL) prvides it with 1.2 Mach at sea level (~1470 Km /hr) stil capable for 3+ Mach flight at stratospheric altitudes.
Radar: 1200KW Active Electronic Scanned Array Track While Scan 12 targets trackig 200 out of detections. Range 600Km at stratosphere, elsewhere, as propagation conditions apply... A squadron of Mig-31s can cover a 900 Km wide path. from ground to satellite altitude.
Cruie speed: continouus 2440 Km /hr at military thrust (without aferburner at stratosphere - marginally supersonic cruise at MSL) Endurance 1Hr 40 min (corresponds to 3000 Km Range - or 1500 Km of combat radius)
It can be refuelled in flight
Newer versions are equiped with air to ground weapons. Never intended to be a tactical strike aircraft it may be used to SEAD missions.
Versatility: Landing system specialy designed for rough field operations. Stagered wheels at main landing system is unique to any aircraft. this 45-tone interceptor can land to a non prepared runway even in the mud or on snow.
Secondary Armament: A 23 mm cannon, with infrared eysight coupled. Very useful at self defence or precaution fire. accurate at 1 /3600m. (0.24 mils CEP)
Anyway, when talking about 3 Mach aircraft its probably MiG-25 /31 (over 1500 samples) than SR-71 /YF12 /A-11 (less than 50 with experiments)or XB-70 reply |
