Designed by Birger Hoenningstad and built by Norsk Flyindustri the Finnmark was a one off. It first flew on 17th September 1949 as a pure flying boat and subsequently had the modifications made and removed as noted above. It flew with Vestlandske Luffartselskap from 1954 on a service between Bergen, Hausegund and Stavanger until it was sold to Norranafly. The C of A expired in 1961 and the plane was scrapped in 1965, although an engine cowling is still extent in the Norwegian Aviation Museum at Bodo.

I have flown it. Back in 1959, it was owned by my employer, Norronafly in Norway.

Originally it had a stubwing instead of the wing pontoons.
A ski-wheel combination could be retracted ito the stub wing matching the undeside contour. To save weight the system was abandoned in favor of the pontoons, which eliminated the amphibious capabilities.
