Barry, 07.06.2016 16:43 Designed by Birger Hoenningstad and built by Norsk Flyindustri the Finnmark was a one off. It first flew on 17th September 1949 as a pure flying boat and subsequently had the modifications made and removed as noted above. It flew with Vestlandske Luffartselskap from 1954 on a service between Bergen, Hausegund and Stavanger until it was sold to Norranafly. The C of A expired in 1961 and the plane was scrapped in 1965, although an engine cowling is still extent in the Norwegian Aviation Museum at Bodo.

Originally it had a stubwing instead of the wing pontoons. A ski-wheel combination could be retracted ito the stub wing matching the undeside contour. To save weight the system was abandoned in favor of the pontoons, which eliminated the amphibious capabilities. reply | Arne Husby, e-mail, 07.02.2010 00:25 This is a 2 motor Norwegian Built Aircraft.
