| The P.149D was a development of the P.148 and was designed to incorporate many of the same structural components. The prototype first flew in July 1953 and two years later the type was chosen for liaison and basic training duties for the German Air Force. Seventy-five were supplied to Germany by Piaggio and the type was also built under licence there. Accommodation was provided for five, reduced to two for aerobatic flying.

According to FAA Reg. records the "E" model was toward the end of the serial numbers. Mine is year 1965 and #350 serial.
