Slingsby T67 Firefly

In 1980 Slingsby Engineering UK acquired rights to licence build the Fournier RF-6 two 'side-by-side' seat basic trainer. The purpose of this move was to furnish the British military with a basic trainer, although the ownership remains civil. Indeed, most T67 sales have been associated with the military, although some have gone to commercial/airline flying schools. More than 260 examples of this fixed tricycle undercarriage light aeroplane have been produced with varying powerplants, and later versions are constructed from composite materials. Other military operators of the type include China and Jordan.

I have about 50 hours on various Marks, mostly the T67M with the 160 h.p. injected, inverted oil system, engine. The Specification above is WRONG - the seating, space available, weight and balance, MTOW, etc., only allow for 2 persons maximum occupancy i.e. Single pilot or 2 flight crew total; (1 pilot and 1 pax) or, more likely, 1 instructor and 1 student pilot; in side-by-side seating. I never knew that this type was operated by CHINA. I remember G-DLTA and G-BONU - thanks P.L. Such a shame what happened with the T-3!
