| The Avia company was created in 1919 by the new Czech government in what had been a sugar factory at Cakovice, on the east side of Prague. It brought together a design team led by P.Benes and M.Hajn, hence the letters BH that prefixed the company's early aircraft designations. The first of these was the BH-1 light aircraft, from which Avia went on to develop the BH-3 fighter monoplane in 1921. Fast and highly manoeuvrable, with a 185hp BMW IlIa engine that gave it a top speed of 214km/h, the Avia BH.3 was one of the most advanced warplanes of its day. Five were built with this powerplant, followed by five more fitted with a 220hp Walter W.IV, which raised the maximum speed to 225km/h. These aircraft were followed by a biplane fighter, the BH.21 of 1924, with a 300hp Skoda (licence-built Hispano) engine. About 120 were built for the Czech Army Aviation; 50 more were produced under licence by SABCA for the Belgian Air Force.

Usually he signed his pictures as "vbidloXX" (XX= last two digit of era.
Mr.Bidlo was specialised on airplanes pictures and he was very active and well-known at the turn of seventieth and eighties.
