luis santos, e-mail, 19.11.2023 23:54 The production aircraft would of been of much better performance if the corrupt military and politicians wouldn't hav e pocketed monies for its original production and subsequent modifications of the design reply | Vicioman, e-mail, 02.04.2014 15:17 Dear Barry, maybe you ignore the fact that most of the Pucaras were destroyed on ground (there is not much an aicraft can do in such a situation...) Also allow me to remaind you that doesn't care at all who win or loose a war to "show the teeth" as Lucho said before, the history is full of examples in where the looser showed the same as the winner...but you didn't knew that either. Regards :) reply | Vicecomodoro, e-mail, 13.02.2014 01:50 I'm a Vice-Commodore for the Argentine Air Force. US Air Force Peeps call me a Wing Commander and the RAF peeps call me a Lieutenant Colonel. I flew one of these horrible aircraft in the test flights. This aircraft is unstable on all three axises. My best friend was killed in an accident in one of these. I hate them. reply | Gene, e-mail, 09.10.2013 19:09 For a nice anecdote on this aircraft, read "Not much of an engineer", by Sir Stanley Hooker and Bill Gunston. Pages 107 to 116. Hooker, of Rolls Royce fame, went to Argentina trying to sell Merlins to the Argentine Government. From what I read Argentina was not as advanced in the design and manufacture of aircraft as they thought themselves... reply |
| Barry, 28.05.2013 17:16 So Lucho the Pucara "showed it's teeth" did it? Perhaps that is why so many were destroyed and repatriated as war booty to the U.K. Of course you have forgotten that the nation of Spanish speaking Welsh Italians called Argentina, that was founded AFTER the Falkland Islands was established as a British Colony, lost the Falkalnds War. That's right they lost. reply | Lucho Carrasco, e-mail, 03.11.2011 18:39 Sure... it is a Radial-Mosquito, but without the strong war propaganda of the De Havilland's because differently to our 'Pucará' that showed its teeth in Malvina's War, this plane flew in peace times -- For us Latinamericans was a good plane servicing in the Fuerza Aérea Argentina for long time. Thanks. Lucho reply | Roberto Grassi, e-mail, 08.04.2011 17:10 In fact, it was a copy of DH Mosquito made with local woods and using radial engines instead of V12; as a result it was much heavier than original Mosquito. reply | oooooo, e-mail, 16.03.2011 21:10 Só posso concordar que ele parece um mosquito e é muito imferior a tal. reply | Barry, 15.03.2011 14:14 I know we will build a plane that looks like and does the same job as a Mosquito, except ours will have a poorer performance all round. reply |
